Please read this carefully or ask an adult you trust to work through it with you. It may seem boring but it is here because we care about you having the right to choose.

When you take part in Stepladder of Achievement, we take a small amount of personal information so we can measure the benefit of this course to young people in care. The personal information you share with us at registration is ‘anonymised’ when we use data from Stepladder to show learner progress on the course.

You will also share more about yourself in you Step 4 plan and your Step 6 evidence. We keep what you submit to us on file and we may use it to evidence young people’s experience of the course. When we do this, we will ‘anonymise’ any details that could identify you. This means we may blank out names, places and contact details on anything you submit.

Why does this matter?
Your personal information has a value when shared online. It is illegal for us to use your data for profit. It is illegal for us to assume what you would and wouldn’t be willing for people you don’t know to know about you. So we need your permission to use your personal information in the way we have explained.

If you do not give us permission, you can still carry on with Stepladder of Achievement.

We also contact young people at different steps so we can hear what they think about their experience.

When we do this, you can decline to answer any individual question or you can choose not to take part in any questionnaire.
